A focused check before a planned use date, allowing reasonable time to resolve findings.

Maintenance is not a guarantee against failure
Regular checks can reduce avoidable surprises and improve visibility, but marine equipment can fail without warning. Weather, water quality, corrosion, use, storage and previous work all affect condition.
